About Neighbourhood Watch
A renewed effort to increase the role of Neighbourhood Watch schemes in reducing crime, anti-social behaviour and the fear of crime is being launched in Cardiff.
The main aim of a NHW scheme is to create a partnership between the local community, police and local authority to reduce crime. Such schemes help to build community relations and can improve the quality of life in an area.
NHW schemes can target specific problems and take action to prevent them by working with local police officers. Problems such as vandalism and graffiti are also within the scope of a well-organised NHW scheme.
